Šibenik

ŠIBENIK – the largest Slavic city in Dalmatia. Slavic tribes were the first ones to settle here. The city is located near the mouth of the River Krka on the Adriatic coast, and above the city proudly dominates the hill of St. Anne with a beautiful panoramic view of the city. Šibenik is the youngest and the oldest town in Croatia, the city of countless stairs, winding streets, old churches, palaces of noble families who once roamed the city streets. The city was founded in the tenth century as a fortress with four towers that fenced and defended it. Here Juraj Dalmatinac created his masterpiece – the Cathedral of St. James, which is the pride of the city. The town has its unique charm that attracts many tourists.
